Equestrian centers
Oleron Island enjoys a pleasant environment to practice horse riding. Its three major forests and its significant stretches of beach and marsh are well suited for riding.
During the months of July and August, riding is allowed on the beaches but only in the evening or in the early morning.
The equestrian centers of the island can accommodate experienced riders and train less experienced practitioners. Ponies allow the practice of this sport by young people.
Horses can also be accommodated in most of these centers.
Several riding schools propose to practice horsemanship. Among those, we can quote the following ones.
Sauzelle
On the edge of the Saumonards forest, "La Balad'" is located in Sauzelle, in the municipality of Saint-Georges.
This center practices an ethological outdoor riding, which respects the horse's behavior.
Saint-Pierre d'Oléron
The equestrian center "Le Paddock", in Saint-Pierre, has a club house with a rooftop terrace to observe the work of the riders.
Lessons are given to new and experienced riders. Rides take them across beaches, forests and marshes.
Dolus
The equestrian center called "Société Hippique Oléronaise" has a horse riding school and a horse training ring in the Dolus district.
Château d'Oléron
"Airotel Oléron" is an equestrian center and a campground where bungalows can be rented. It is possible to take classes or attend a course.
Saint-Trojan-les-Bains
Horse riding in the forest of Saint-Trojan and on the beaches near this equestrian center is organized by the "Écuries du Carbet". Beginners and more experienced riders can enjoy classes.
Golf
The Golf offers nine holes with numerous water and dune vegetation obstacles. Located at the edge of the ocean, it offers a beautiful sight on Fort Boyard.
The golf is located on the municipality of Saint-Pierre, at a place called "La Vieille Perrotine", on the road going from Boyardville to "Les Allards".
There is a clubhouse at this golf course. A driving range and six holes are reserved for practice and learning. Lessons can be provided to players of all levels, including beginners.
Tennis

The three tennis courts of Saint-Denis are located next to the tourist office and the marina.
Saint-Pierre d'Oléron
Located on the road to Sauzelle, the association "La Raquette Cayenne" has five tennis courts, one of which is indoor. Lessons are given throughout the year.
